This 14-hour course will meet all of the CE requirements for Florida contractors to renew their license!
We'll begin the course with a discussion of using construction liens in Florida. This includes the legal requirements for the processes of enforcing, collecting, and disputing liens, as well as how they must be written and formatted.
Then, we'll cover the regulations that apply to contractors practicing in Florida. This includes the problem of unlicensed construction work, and the sanctions against engaging in it. In order to accomplish this, we'll also talk about how to register your business to remain in compliance.
Next, we'll look at the regulations that apply to wind mitigation, an important issue for coastal states subject to high winds. This chapter will discuss the codes, engineering and reinforcements necessary to protect buildings from this danger.
Workers compensation will also be addressed, during which we'll talk about the requirements for coverage, as well as the reporting and recordkeeping requirements that must be observed in the event of an employee injury. We'll also spend some time on employee safety, including discussing the purpose of OSHA, job-site safety practices, and some of the common dangers specific to construction sites.
After that, we'll cover the basics of masonry, including how to lay brick and block walls, and a discussion of other types of concrete masonry walls. Drywall fundamental will be addressed next, before we tackle the process of building an exterior building shell. This includes an overview of the best practices for exterior walls, roofs, and more.

Instructor Bio
Dan Whaley, was trained in HVAC in the Air Force where he spent eight years after high school. His time in the Air Force gave him the opportunity to do everything from repairs of advanced systems to planning the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs that were used in over 250 facilities.Dan is currently a Lead Technician for a one million square foot, 300+ bed medical hospital.
