AYPO's 2-hour course on Chapters 12 through 15 will examine the changes to the UMC that affect these areas. While the course won't review every change, we will look at the most important changes to know, contrasting the 2012 regulations with the previous regulations from 2009.

We'll begin with Chapter 12, which addresses hydronics, or the use of liquid medium to transfer heat in heating or cooling systems, including the new standards for plastic tubing. In Chapter 13, we'll look at changes affecting fuel gas piping, and the materials used in gas-piped equipment.

Regulations for connections used in gas piping have also changed, and will be reviewed in the course, along with new cathodic protection requirements. We'll briefly recap some of the minor changes in chapters 14 through 16.

We'll conclude the course with a discussion on sustainable practices for HVAC technicians, including those found in Appendix E.
