Kansas 3 Hour 2012 IMC Updates: Chapters 1-5

This 3-hour course will cover the changes to Chapters 1-5 of the IMC for 2012. We'll begin by reviewing the history and organization of the IMC, before moving into a discussion of the changes.

We'll begin with a review of Chapter 1, which includes instruction on the maintenance and use of HVAC systems. It includes a detailed list of elements requiring regular maintenance, and possible reasons for equipment which is found to be in poor condition or which is not performing acceptably.

Chapter 2 covers definitions, so we'll review the changes that are made there before moving to the general regulations of Chapter 3. This includes instruction specific to flood hazards, ignition sources, equipment on elevated structures, and more.

In Chapter 4, we'll look at the changes to regulations for ventilation rates, intake openings, and enclosed parking garages. Chapter 5 explains when an independent exhaust system is required.

In Chapter 5, we'll examine the storage and supervision requirements for batteries, as well as hazardous materials. We'll look at exhaust systems in homes, and proper installation of a a grease reservoir and related systems.
