This 24 hour course begins with a 4 hour rule and law class that covers 2021 updates to the UPC/OPSC including interim amendments passed in October 2020, statewide interpretations of the code, the appeals process, and a review of the permitting and licensing rules for plumbers in the state.

The course moves on to a 4 hour code change course which provides 4 hours of continuing education credit and will cover many of the significant changes made to Chapters 2 through 7 including new definitions, general regulations, and topics such as plumbing fixtures, and including new sections on chemical dispensers, push fit fittings, and check valves.

The next segment of the course is an 8 hour class dealing with the reopening of buildings after prolonged disuse, residential water heaters, sanitary drainage systems, and graywater and private onsite wastewater treatment systems.

The last two sections of the course are made up of two classes concerning plumber safety and rainwater harvesting:

The plumber safety class is based on OSHA regulations and recommendations for fostering safer workplaces for tradesmen. It’s designed to help business owners craft and enforce better workplace safety and consumer protection and help all plumbers to foster and pursue safer workplace habits in order to build a longer and more satisfying career.

The rainwater harvesting class serves as a general introduction to rainwater harvesting systems and an overview of the ways rainwater can function as an alternative water source. It will cover the six components of a rainwater harvesting system in turn:

  • the collection area;
  • conveyances;
  • filtration;
  • storage;
  • treatment (for potable water systems, only); and
  • distribution

There is no exam required for this 24 hour course.
