Florida licensing requirements include the following: "If applying to become a Certified General Contractor, a Certified Building Contractor, Certified Residential Contractor, or Certified Roofing Contractor, you must also provide proof of completion of a board approved 2-hour course on the Florida Building Code which includes information on wind mitigation techniques.”
This class provides a one-hour review of wind mitigation rules, laws, and code taken from Chapter 16 of the 2020 Florida Building Code, Building, with a discussions of how each of the laws, rules, and codes work together to make Florida’s structures more protected against damage from wind and wind-borne debris. It also provides the one-hour advanced module course CE that covers the significant revisions made to the 2018 IRC when it was adopted as the 2020 FBC-R as selected by the FBC in the Analysis of Changes for the 7th Edition (2020) of the Florida Building Code-Residential.
