The intent of this one hour course is to provide contractors in Florida with instruction on the current laws and rules of the state that apply to their profession. The following topics are addressed in the course:

  • Part I of Chapter 489 of Title XXXII of the Florida Statutes
  • A portion of the course addresses the first part Chapter 489 which contains the statutes that govern construction contracting and construction contractors.
  • Part II of Chapter 489 of Title XXXII of the Florida Statutes
  • A portion of the course looks at the second part of Chapter 489 which is concerned with electrical and alarm system contracting and electrical and alarm system contractors.
  • Division 61G4 of the Florida Administrative Code
  • A portion of the course examines Division 61G4 which contains the administrative rules affecting construction contracting and construction contractors.
  • Division 61G6 of the Florida Administrative Code
  • A portion of the course talks about Division 61G6 which is the part of the administrative code that deals with electrical and alarm system contracting and electrical and alarm system contractors.

This course is broken up by a series of short quizzes that are intended to promote understanding and retention of the content presented in the course.

Jerry Durham

Jerry previously served the state of North Carolina as a Level III electrical inspector and provided state-approved electrical training for electrical inspectors at both Alamance County and Guilford County (NC) Community Colleges. Jerry taught the Kentucky state-approved four-year electrical apprenticeship programs offered by the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) Trade School and Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Trade School, and served the state of Kentucky as a Master Electrician and Louisville Metro Code Enforcement Officer. Jerry is a Certified Distance Education Instructor (CDEI) and NCCER Core and Electrical Curriculum certified instructor. Jerry currently holds North Carolina and ICC electrical inspector accreditations and is recognized by the state of Washington as an approved electrical administrator.
