This 2-hour Minnesota electrician course provides a solid grounding in CATV installation practices. It begins with a look at recent events in Minnesota when Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) was found by the 8th Circuit Court to be an "information service" that cannot be taxed and regulated by the states with major impacts on the industry nationwide. Recent changes related to COVID-19, the Governor's Broadband Task Force, and efforts to increased speeds are also addressed. The balance of the class covers:

General considerations in cable installation;

Planning and connecting cable service;

Tools and installation practices for the CATV electrician; and

Grounding, fiber optic cables, and how the 2020 NEC addresses communication circuits.
