This two-hour course provides state-certified continuing education toward satisfying the full CE requirements during each renewal cycle for licensed mechanical professionals in Iowa. The first hour includes a discussion of the adoption of the 2019 ISMC; Proposed House File 639; revisions to Section 103.1 and amendments to IMC Chapter 2 [Definitions]; 304.11 Guards; 306.2 Appliances in Rooms and Closets; Chapter 4 [Ventilation]; 504.8.2 [Duct installation]; 506.3.13.3 [Termination location]; 508.1.1 [Makeup air temperature; 601.5 [Return air openings] & 604.3 Duct coverings and linings].
The second hour of the class covers every significant change to Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 in the model 2018 IMC [Definitions & General Regulations]. Each change in this class is presented in a “cut-and-paste” format with deletions from and additions to the 2015 IMC clearly shown. Each change is then discussed for the reason it was made and how it impacts a working mechanical professional based in part on the proceedings of the IMC Technical Committees and Iowa Plumbing and Mechanical Systems Board.

Dan Whaley, was trained in HVAC in the Air Force where he spent eight years after high school. His time in the Air Force gave him the opportunity to do everything from repairs of advanced systems to planning the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs that were used in over 250 facilities.Dan is currently a Lead Technician for a one million square foot, 300+ bed medical hospital.
