AYPO offers this 16-hour course to meet all of your CE requirements for the state of New Mexico, so you can get it done easily.
The course will start with a brief history of the UMC, before moving on to Chapter 1. Chapter 1 is primarily concerned with the administration of the code, covering procedures such as inspections and testing of equipment.
In Chapter 2, we’ll cover the most significant changes to the definitions contained in this chapter, before moving on to Chapter 3, which is concerned with general requirements for piping, tubing, ductwork, and more.
After that, we’ll look at Chapters 4 through 8, and Appendices A, F and G. These sections cover the topics of ventilation, duct systems, those utilizing combustion, and chimneys and vents as well.
Chapters 9 through 11 will cover situations where gas piping is used, as well as refrigeration devices and some other specific appliances. This includes a discussion of Appendices B and C.
Next, we’ll review Chapters 12 through 17, and Appendix E. These cover the areas of hydronics, venting, appropriate test pressures, cathodic protection requirements, and sustainable and green practices.
The second section of the course will look at subjects that will help you improve your skills as a businessperson, and protect your business from unnecessary risk.
We’ll start this with a primer on digital marketing, or internet marking. We’ll talk about how this type of marketing works, why it’s so important to understand, and why you can’t afford to ignore it. The lesson will also contain pointers and first steps to get started in digital marketing.
After that, we’ll spend some time covering project management. Many construction-related companies ignore the importance of efficient project management, which ultimately drives up cost. We’ll talk about some simple systems to use to improve project management, and therefore your costs. Next, we’ll cover estimating and job-costing. This is another area that can vastly improve company profits when performed correctly.
Our final section in the course will cover the risks that may be encountered in the construction industry. It’s important to understand these risks fully in order to implement and effective risk-management plan and limit your exposure to liability.
