This course reviews the 2024 Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) updates across Chapters 1 through 5, with emphasis on the most significant revisions that impact plumbing installation and inspection practices. Learners will explore the code’s structure, terminology, and navigation strategies to confidently locate and interpret key provisions. The course also covers administrative requirements, definitions, plumbing regulations, fixture and fitting standards, and water heater installation rules. By the end of the course, learners will be prepared to recognize applicable code changes and understand how they relate to safe and compliant plumbing work.

  • Recognize how the UPC is organized and locate content using definitions, acronyms, and code change indicators. 
  • Describe major differences between the 2024 UPC and prior editions. 
  • Explain the scope, purpose, and administrative provisions of the UPC, including document and enforcement requirements. 
  • Define essential plumbing terms and match code definitions to proper code language sections. 
  • Identify minimum standards, material requirements, prohibited practices, and special provisions. 
  • Recall requirements for common plumbing fixtures and identify installation rules and prohibited fixtures. 
  • Recognize approved water heater types and describe installation and venting requirements per the UPC.
