This 4-hour course for Georgia HVAC contractors will cover the updates to the IMC in Chapters 8 through 15.

We’ll begin with Chapter 8, which addresses mechanical draft systems such as chimneys and vents, before we move on to discussing fireplaces, fuel-burning equipment, and certain appliances in Chapter 9. This is also where we’ll see code regulations relating to infrared radiant heaters, forced air-furnaces, and similar subjects. We’ll also spend some time discussing radiant floor heating and evaporative cooling equipment.

In Chapter 10, we’ll start by looking at boilers, water heaters, and pressure vessels. Chapter 11 focuses on refrigeration, various types of refrigerants, and how they pertain to The Clean Air Act. We’ll also talk about how to comply with EPA and IMC regulations.

Continuing with Chapter 11, we’ll talk about types of refrigerant blends, along with which ones are flammable and require ventilation, and emergency shut-offs. We’ll briefly review changes in Chapter 12 relating to joints, before moving to Chapter 13.

In Chapter 13, we’ll cover new additions to the code which refer to the Underwriters Laboratory standard. Finally, we’ll conclude the course with a discussion about sustainable HVAC practices, and how to improve energy efficiency.
