This 8-hour* course is designed for tradesman who are interested in improving their business skills. In the course, we'll cover some of the most essential aspects of running a business.
We'll begin by talking about the fundamentals of starting a business, including writing a business plan, what it takes to launch a new business, and the importance of protecting your business with the appropriate insurance, including what kind of coverage exists, and what kind you need.
We'll also address the process of developing your business identity, behaving ethically in your business, and the labor laws you'll need to know and understand.
In the following section, we'll spend some time talking about professionalism, and how to conduct yourself like a businessperson as you run a business.
After that, we'll move into some technical education with a discussion of building codes in Kentucky. This includes building codes to protect against earthquakes, wind, and fire, as well as general building codes to ensure durability.
The final part of this course will focus on safety training. We'll discuss the most common workplace hazards you're likely to encounter, including physical and electrical hazards. We'll conclude the course by talking about some safety duties that are important to ensuring the safety of those working on a job site. This course will utilize periodic quizzes throughout.
