As a licensed air conditioning and refrigeration (ACR) contractor in Texas, you must complete eight hours of continuing education (CE) every year before renewing your license and submitting the state renewal fee. Here's what you need to know to fulfill the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation's (TDLR) CE requirements.
According to TDLR, your annual CE needs to include at least one hour covering Texas laws and rules regulating ACR contractors.
The remaining seven hours of CE can focus on any of the following:
Looking for a simple, one-stop-shop solution? Our TDLR-approved 8-hour package automatically covers the required topics mentioned above. Our on-demand courses are available from any device with internet access so you can complete your CE at your own pace.
Our courses are self-paced, but TDLR recommends starting your CE renewal process at least 30 days before your license expires.
To be eligible for license renewal, TDLR needs to know that you finished your eight hours of CE. With our eight-hour package, we report your completed hours for you and send you a certificate of completion. Once you get your certificate of completion, we recommend keeping a copy for at least a year in case the TDLR asks for a copy.
You can go online to TDLR's website and verify that your hours have been reported to the state.
Note: The CE requirement only applies to ACR contractors. If you're a certified or registered ACR technician, you don't need CE. You need to submit your renewal and pay the renewal fee each year.
