Next, we’ll look at the regulations that apply to wind mitigation, an important issue for coastal states subject to high winds. This chapter will discuss the codes, engineering and reinforcements necessary to protect buildings from this danger.
Workers compensation will also be addressed, during which we’ll talk about the requirements for coverage, as well as the reporting and recordkeeping requirements that must be observed in the event of an employee injury. We’ll also spend some time on employee safety, including discussing the purpose of OSHA, job-site safety practices, and some of the common dangers specific to construction sites.
After that, we’ll cover the basics of masonry, including how to lay brick and block walls, and a discussion of other types of concrete masonry walls. Drywall fundamental will be addressed next, before we tackle the process of building an exterior building shell. This includes an overview of the best practices for exterior walls, roofs, and more.
