Iowa 2 Hour 2015 IMC Review Chapters 1-4 & 12-15 (Part 1)

This course covers the adoption of the 2015 statewide mechanical code of Iowa, including all the statewide amendments, a look at local amendments, and a revealing exploration of the reasons behind the 2012 to 2015 revisions of eight Chapters of the IMC.

The bulk of the class is devoted to every significant recent revision made to Chapters 1-4 and 12-15 of the 2015 International Mechanical Codes, the model code on which the Iowa Mechanical Code is based.

This course will count for 2 credit hours of either Mechanical Code or HVAC/R Discipline.

Residential HVAC System Replacements

This course will review and highlight essential HVAC installation challenges with replacement systems. Included in the review will be specific examples of challenges related to heating, ventilation, air conditioning and exhaust systems, and best practices to overcome those challenges. This course will primarily concentrate on residential systems.

CE Requirements to Renew an IA HVAC License

  • Licensees with a Single License must take 8 hours of CE prior to license renewal.
    • 2 hours must cover safety (Iowa Occupational Health & Safety)
    • 2 hours must cover code (applicable plumbing or mechanical code)
    • 4 hours must cover discipline (must be in current license discipline only)
  • People who hold Multiple Mechanical Licenses must take 14 hours.
    • 4 hours must cover safety (Iowa Occupational Health & Safety)
    • 2 hours must cover mechanical code
    • 8 hours must cover discipline (from one or any combination of discipline licenses held)
  • Anyone who holds any Combination of Mechanical & Plumbing Licenses must obtain 16 hours.
    • 4 hours must cover safety (Iowa Occupational Health & Safety)
    • 2 hours must cover mechanical code
    • 2 hours must cover plumbing code
    • 8 hours must cover discipline (from one or any combination of discipline licenses held)
  • All HVAC/R and Mechanical license renewals must be complete by June 30th, 2023 (every 3 years).

 

Only 50% of hours can be taken online.
